Stamp Illustrations for Tatler Philippines’ “Off Menu” event
Tatler Dining’s Off Menu is one of their biggest food and beverage events. It is a two-day festival that embraces a one-of-a-kind culinary experience where innovation knows no bounds. According to Tatler Philippines, “The event is designed to excite diners, whet appetites, and further ignite your love for food.”
This year’s key visuals take a unique and artistic touch to this already remarkable event by incorporating handmade stamps to bring their marketing collaterals to life. My work’s aesthetics offer a blend of traditional craftsmanship to their digital platform’s modern aesthetics.
The creative brief for this project required a playful and innovative approach to food. It was essential to keep the sophisticated characteristic branding of the client. This was the main challenge for me considering that my work often deals with food but is presented in a humorous light.
My process involves imagining fresh produce and raw ingredients and then translating them into stamps. I then had to digitize them for the client’s use in their marketing collaterals.
However, my work does not stop at digitization. I also had to present the design elements I made in such a way that the client could see how they could incorporate my singular elements into a cohesive illustration.
The uniqueness of handmade stamps lies in their imperfections. Unlike digital illustrations, the distressed texture of stamps is present even in its digital format. When used to illustrate a food and beverage event, they can evoke a sense of nostalgia and tradition, reminding attendees of the artisanal craft that goes into creating exquisite culinary delights.
