Spacedog Spacecat tapped your stamp-making friend to design a single cover for “Seeking Friend” which debuted on Spotify at the end of 2021. This is my first time creating single cover art for a band so it’s a pretty memorable project for me.
The creative brief I was given was to come up with a classified ad-like illustration that has a cat silhouette and a number to call. In consideration of the band’s visual identity of cat, dog, and space, I came up with these three studies.
It was pretty awesome of them to find all three suited to their band visual, so they approved all three studies. Apart from the cover the rest of the images would be used for online promotions of their single. After the client decided on the artwork that would make their single’s cover, I was also commissioned to turn that illustration into a stamp.
The final stamp comes out at 3×3 inches mounted on a wooden handle.
The stamp prints and elements from the final artwork appear on their official music video as well.
“Seeking a Friend” is an ode to new beginnings, taking inspiration from a wide range of apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction.

In this 4th single, the band continues to perfect their approach to crafting melancholic songs about loneliness and the accompanying fatalistic tendencies, with an unmistakable preference for noisy guitars and restrained melodies. The words force you to imagine holding hands with a stranger with the end of the world providing a dramatic backdrop.
