Print Fair+@GAS WAVE 2: REGIONAL PRINTMAKING STEPS INTO FOCUS IN THE SECOND WAVE OF PRINT FAIR+@GAS
Printmakers from across the archipelago bring fresh energy and local perspectives to the fore

Quezon City, Philippines — Print Fair+@GAS WAVE 2 is a continuation of the month-long celebration of printmaking. The second wave opens on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, and this time, all eyes are on the regions.
Often working outside the spotlight of the capital’s major institutions, regional printmakers and collectives have been steadily building a compelling body of work—rooted in local context, resourcefulness, and community practice. With this new set of exhibitions, Print Fair+@GAS places regional voices front and center, offering audiences in Metro Manila a closer look at the breadth of printmaking across the country.
This momentum comes on the heels of recent major presentations—like the print-focused exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila and Printopia: Aotearoa Print Festival in New Zealand, which featured 28 Filipino artists. The excitement is real, and the developments across the archipelago are too important to ignore.
REGIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

Island Impressions
This regional showcase gathers some of the most active and spirited print collectives working today: BIE (Luzon), ILCP (Dumaguete), Grupo Balhag (Bacolod), Kikik Kollective (Iloilo), Pasilyo Press (Zambales), PLELEMUDA (Mindanao), and Hiugyon (Iloilo). Each group brings a different tone, rhythm, and set of concerns—proof that printmaking isn’t just surviving outside Metro Manila, it’s thriving in its own language.

Prints: Language and Interpretation
A cross-institutional group show by artist-educators, this exhibit opens a window into the way print is taught, shared, and understood across Philippine art schools. Participating institutions include: College of Saint Benilde, Philippine Women’s University, University of Mindanao, UP Baguio, UP Cebu, and UP Diliman. The result is a textured conversation between pedagogy and practice—one that highlights the academic backbone of Philippine printmaking, many of which are anchored in regional centers.

Marzing Machine Print Exchange: Hyperlocal
After making its debut at the Luzon Art Fair, the Marzing Machine returns with a new set of tiny, powerful works around the theme of “hyperlocal.” This miniprint exchange brings together 39 artists, each responding to their own immediate environments. Whether tucked inside a vending machine or viewed up close, these works feel intimate and urgent—reminders of the deep connection between printmakers and place.

KILOMETER 1476
This is Davao on its own terms. KILOMETER 1476 features work by Clem Huerte, Ivan Sepelagio, Tatu, Gubb, Juan Atienza, Mahaviir Ramirez, Oani Jester, Patrik Government, Paupau, Shai Ancheta, Sola, Sut, Paul Aman, and Reagan Deiparine—a roster that reflects just how expansive and experimental Mindanao’s printmaking scene has become. The show is both raw and refined, a snapshot of a community forging its own path.
Print Fair+@GAS WAVE 2
The fair continues to position itself not just as an exhibition but as a real-time survey of contemporary Philippine printmaking. It’s a festival that honors the legacy of the medium while paying close attention to what printmakers, especially those working outside institutional strongholds, are doing right now.
