5 New Iromoyo ink shades

Shachihata released 5 new Iromoyo shades this month. Iromoyo inks are currently a popular ink choice for eraser stamps. The 5 new colors are: Red Plum, Tangerine, Horsetail, Deep Red, and Navy Blue. These colors were selected from 15 other shades that have been decided through a voting survey answer by users. Unlike the first batch of 24 colors, these new shades don’t have dedicated refill inks available.

Below are the English and romanized translations of the new Iromoyo shades.

Red Plum

Iromoyo Red Plum (Kobairo)

A spring-inspired color which is reminiscent of red plum flowers. This shade became popular in the Heian period in Japan.

New Iromoyo ink shades Tangerine

Tangerine (Mikaniro)

This bright yellow shade mimics the skin of a tangerine fruit hence its name.

New Iromoyo ink shades Horsetail

Horsetail (Tokusairo)

This shade is a traditional deep shade of bluish green that is popular among samurais and middle-age people. It’s name directly translates to “horsetail” which has a similar look to that of a bamboo plant.

Deep Red

Deep Red (Akaneiro)

This is a deep red shade that was developed almost the same time as the indigo used in the traditional Japanese dying culture.

New Iromoyo ink shade Navy Blue

Navy Blue (Konjoiro)

This deep blue color is inspired by natural pigments used in Japanese paintings. Its name “Konjoiro” is also used to describe the color of the sea.

Just like the original ink colors, these new shades are priced at JPY 715 (Php 320.) What do you think of these five New Iromoyo ink shades?
