Marzing Machine Print Exchange Returns Celebrating Local Identity Through Printmaking
QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES — Following its successful maiden run at Luzon Art Fair in October 2024, the Marzing Machine Print Exchange is back with its second edition. Spearheaded by Marz Today Studio, the 2nd exchange brings together over 35 printmakers from across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, a showcase of both established and up and coming printmakers from the country’s three main islands.
Launching a day ahead of Print Day in May, May 2, 2025, at Gravity Art Space. The project highlights the power of printmaking as a democratic and accessible art form. The exchange celebrates printmaking’s unique characteristic of producing multiple originals, allowing a wider audience to own and experience art in a tangible, collectible way.
The exhibit’s theme, “Hyperlocal,” invites artists to reflect on the unique imagery, symbols, and cultural markers of their specific locales—whether that’s their hometown, a place they currently call home, or a community they feel deeply connected to. Through this lens, the exhibition explores local identity, heritage, landscapes, and everyday life, offering a look at what shapes our sense of place.
The exhibition opens with “Hyperlocal” a print exchange and exhibition amongst 10 artists-printmakers and a new Marzing Machine with all prints from the mini print exchange’s participants. The full exhibition of all mini-prints in the Marzing Machine will have its opening reception on May 20,2025. We warmly invite you to both opening receptions. Throughout both exhibitions, the Marzing Machine—a traveling vending machine that dispenses random mini prints— will be present in both shows as an interactive aspect of the exhibits.
With instant mini portfolios traveling across the country, the Marzing Machine Print Exchange continues to champion community, connection, and the enduring magic of the printed image.
