Awagami International Miniprint Exhibition 2021 (AIMPE)
Tokushima, Japan

2021 marks the 5th edition of the Awagami International Miniprint Exhibition (AIMPE)

This juried exhibition features both Japanese and international artists of different skill levels. The purpose of this exhibition is to introduce ‘washi’ ; Japan’s traditional handmade paper (and cultural treasure) to international printmakers. In so doing, we are pleased to provide an opportunity for artists to exhibit their prints and promote expressionistic fine art printmaking.

Award-winning works were displayed at Awagami’s Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper Museum. All other prints will be displayed in Awagami’s spacious “Inbe Art Space”. Award-winning prints previous four AIMPE will be displayed at satellite venues in Japan.

The matrices of this print were carved from school supply erasers and inked with oil-based ink pads. Unlike the traditional practice of linocut prints which make use of a registration guide to perfect a print, the artist used approximation by stamping.
